The Tutors

Renaissance Language Services is run by Madeleine Gillies. She has extensive experience of organising and teaching language courses.

Following a BA (Hons) degree in French Studies from Lancaster University (including a year at the University of Amiens), she taught EFL for the British Council and British School in Bologna, Italy for three years and also worked as a translator and interpreter for the Arts Council of Bologna.

For a number of years she was manager of European Link (Kent County Council): a European training initiative which provided tailormade courses to business and professional people from France, Belgium, Sweden and Italy.

AWEX (Walloon Government's Department of Foreign Affairs)

City Council of Helsingborg (courses for teachers)

She started Renaissance Language Services in 1999 and has organised courses and taught EFL, French and Italian on a regular basis since then.

She initiated the teaching of French in two local primary schools and taught more than 90 children over a period of three years.

She is an OCR examiner and moderator for GCSE English and French and an Edexcel marker for English National Tests at Key Stages 2 and 3.

All language classes are taught by herself or other qualified, experienced language tutors based in the Crowborough and Tunbridge Wells area.
